Mervyn Cirota is currently the Gauteng shadow MEC of Human Settlements and Co-operative Governance which is the position he has held since December 2016. Prior to this he was Spokesperson for Human Settlements. He has been a member of the Gauteng Legislature Human Settlements Committee since 2014.
He has been practicing as an attorney for over 35 years and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Law, and Master of the Built Environment (Housing).
His main focus is dealing with housing issues, including the problems of title deeds, RDP allocations and unfinished projects as well as in SITU upgrading. He also focuses on the housing problems in Alexandra Township which is his constituency.
He is chairperson of the Gauteng Disciplinary Committee, a member of the Federal Legal Commission and of the DA National Fundraising team.
