Makashule is the spokesperson for Cooperative governance and Traditional Affairs in the provincial Legislature.
He was previously a member of Parliament serving as DA Shadow Minister for Human Settlements between 2014 and 2016. He briefly served as a Member of the National Council of Provinces in 2014.
Between 2009 and 2014 Makashule was a Councillor in the City of Johannesburg. He served as a Member of the Finance , Safety, Housing and Economic development Section 79 committees.
Makashule holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and is currently registered for a Bachelors degree in Economics.
Professionally he has worked for FNB and Absa as a Test and Business Analyst.
He has served the DA in many capacities including National DA Youth Leader, Federal Deputy Chairperson, Regional Youth Chairperson amongst others. He is passionate about political development and he runs a political school in Johannesburg that he established in 2012.
He defines himself as a Proud South African, a shy village boy, Orlando Pirates supporter and the DA lives in him.
He spends his free time reading, supporting Pirates or playing Deep house tunes.
