Khume Ramulifho is the DA Shadow MEC of Education; a position he’s held since being elected in 2009. He is the DA Gauteng Caucus Whip and DA Johannesburg Regional Chairperson. In the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Khume has served as a member of the Gender, Youth and People with Disabilities Committee and Finance Portfolio Committee.
Originally from Limpopo, Khume found himself drawn into politics whilst still a student and even co-found the Democratic Students Congress (now known as Democratic Alliance Student Organisation) – this lead to him receiving merit and leadership bursaries from 1999 to 2001. He went on to add to his HR qualification with certificates in Municipal Governance (University of Johannesburg), Governance and Leadership (UNISA) as well as an advanced certificate in Governance and Public Leadership (WITS).

In 2009, Khume was nominated as one of the Top 300 Young Successful South Africans and Top 200 Young Successful South Africans as well as part of the A-Z of Who is Who in South Africa.
He attended the Leadership Development Program in France in 2011 and in Germany in 2014.
In his spare time, Khume enjoys reading, debating, listening to talk shows and spending time with his wife and two children.
