The Democratic Alliance ( DA) calls on the Gauteng Department of Health to intervene as a matter of urgency to ensure that services resume at Sedibeng clinic.

The nurses at all the Sedibeng regional clinics have downed tools today demanding that the Gauteng Department of Health remove their District Director.

The protesting employees are accusing their Health District Director of nepotism.

Health is a critical essential service that cannot be compromised.

Our poor people who are in dire need of medical attention at the clinics have been denied access to basic health care.

This is unacceptable as it seriously impacts of the health of our people.

The DA calls on the Gauteng Health MEC, Gwen Ramokgopa to intervene to ensure that they resolve this serious matter.

Access to basic health services is a constitutional right and the DA will ensure that this right is upheld for all the residents of this province.
