Local government elections in South Africa are held every five years, and the next will take place in 2016 on a date yet to be announced by the President.
To vote in the elections, voters need to be registered at designated voting stations where they live. The first registration weekend is scheduled for 5 and 6 March 2016.
The DA’s local government election campaigns across Gauteng local municipalities are in full swing, with mayoral candidates announced in Tshwane and Midvaal respectively. Candidate announcements for the remainder will be announced from January onward.
